PREVENTION IS KEY!

WEAR A MASK…

When in public places or around anyone who is not in your immediate family to protect        yourself and others.

TAKE VITAMIN D

Research shows this can reduce the severity of the illness progression, as well as offer viral   illness prevention protection.  5,000 – 10,000 IU Daily – more if you have darker complexion.

WHEN SICK (with any Covid symptoms)…

            Get Covid-19 test right away!

WHEN SICK…

Stay home until test results come back.

WHEN SICK…

Stay home if symptomatic, regardless of the test result.

WHEN SICK…

            Wear a mask at home!

WHEN SICK…

Quarantine and isolate from all other human beings until you are symptom free for three (3)  days.

WHEN SICK…

Quarantine and isolate for minimum of ten (10) days – if you are symptom free the last         three (3) days you can be cleared… quarantine and isolate longer if symptoms persist.

WHEN SOMEONE IN YOUR FAMILY IS SICK…

The entire family must quarantine and isolate away from each other to avoid a cascade of     new isolation start dates.

WHAT DOES “CASCADE OF ISOLATION START DATES” mean?

Every person who develops symptoms starts the quarantine and isolation 10 days over again.

WHEN YOU TEST POSITIVE FOR COVID-19…

The 10-day Quarantine and isolation starts the first day of positive test, or first day of positive symptoms.

If asymptomatic:  Quarantine and isolate for 10 days – if you remain symptom free – a negative test at 7 days ends formal quarantine – but this is a compromise, and you should still avoid people at high risk for complications for an additional seven (7) days.

If symptomatic: Quarantine and isolate 10-day until recovered from acute portion of the illness with no fever, body aches, fatigue, lack of appetite or shortness of breath three days.  Cough and loss of taste smell may take longer to resolve without active viral illness.  No need for follow up test.  As long as you feel ill, you need to remain in quarantine and isolation.

Notify Others: Immediately notify anyone you have been in close contact for 15 minutes or longer of your positive test.

WHEN YOU’VE BEEN EXPOSED TO SOMEONE WITH COVID…

Quarantine seven (7) days and arrange for a Covid test between the 5th and 7th day, assuming you’re still Asymptomatic.

IF you develop symptoms, ISOLATE ten (new start of 10 days) and get tested.

WHAT CONSTITUTES “EXPOSURE”…

Individual who has had close contact (within 6 feet for a total of 15 minutes or more)

COVID AND INFLUENZA TESTING:

Abrupt onset of fever, headache, body aches and chills without cough or runny nose… request both Covid and Influenza test.

Vocabulary Confusion Help:

Quarantine – when exposed and without symptoms

Isolate- with symptoms, even if no known exposure

UPDATE AS OF JAN 28, 2021

With the new Covid strain that is even more contagious the CDC is recommending we double mask now.

They also recommend using an N95 mask with a cloth mask over it;  especially for air travel, enclosed spaces for longer than 10 minutes with people not in your pod.  If you work indoors within 10 feet of co-workers double masks are highly recommended to protect yourself and others.

We only need to do this until we have 80% of the population with immunity – either with a vaccine or having documented antibodies.
